
Meet Allison
Representative Allison Knab is a 16-year Stratham resident, dedicated community leader and SAU 16 public schools parent
Elected in 2022, Allison proudly serves as a New Hampshire State Representative for Stratham. Her legislative work has included sponsoring and cosponsoring bills to establish a Farm-to-School Nutrition pilot program; clarify condo association meeting laws; enhance school instruction of election laws and voting; require flood risk disclosure during real estate transactions; clarify statutes around green burials, and facilitate extreme risk protection orders in the state.
She has sat on the Stratham Select Board since 2018 and became Vice Chair in 2022. Allison is only the second woman to have served in the town’s 300+ year history. In this position, she works collaboratively to review and set the town’s annual budget, oversee the work of the town administrator, review articles in the warrant for Town Meeting, and participate in town hiring efforts. She also serves as the Board liaison to the Stratham Police Department, Town Clerk's Office, and Parks and Recreation department.
She is also the Executive Director of the nonprofit Great Bay Stewards, which is the friends group to the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. In this role she oversees the organizational budget, serves as staff to the nonprofit board of trustees, plans events and fundraisers, writes and maintains grants, and manages communications.
Allison and her husband Brian moved from Chicago to New Hampshire in 2007, and live in Stratham with their two daughters, Clara (18) Evelyn (15) and dog Wally. Brian is a radiation oncologist who works at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, while their daughters attend Bucknell University and Exeter High School
Originally from Virginia, Allison graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in biology and completed graduate studies at the University of California Berkeley in its Integrative Biology department.
